gnome-specimen software package provides Simple font preview and compare application for GNOME, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-specimen
gnome-specimen is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-specimen package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-specimen *
You will get with gnome-specimen package name, version, architecture and description in a table
